Somerset Hills YMCA
The Financial Assistance Committee at Somerset Hills YMCA is dedicated to ensuring financial accessibility and promoting financial literacy within our community. As a vital component of the Y's mission, the committee convenes regularly (monthly) to fulfill its responsibilities outlined below. Empowered by the Branch Board, the committee operates transparently and with a commitment to inclusivity and impact. Key Responsibilities: 1. Promoting Financial Literacy Workshops: Coordinate engaging workshops and seminars aimed at enhancing financial literacy within the community. These workshops will cover topics such as budgeting, saving, investing, and responsible borrowing, empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary for financial success. Workshops can be led by committee members or coordinated in partnership with outside partners. 2. Community Outreach and Resource Promotion: Actively engage with diverse segments of the community to promote the availability of financial assistance resources offered by the YMCA. Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to ensure that individuals in need are aware of and have access to the assistance they require. 3. Inclusive Representation: Serve as ambassadors of the YMCA to the community, fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all individuals without judgment or discrimination. Strive to understand and address the unique needs of diverse populations, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported in their journey towards financial wellness. 4. Impact Storytelling: Share stories of impact and transformation resulting from the YMCA's financial assistance program. Highlight the experiences of individuals who have benefited from the program, demonstrating its tangible impact on their lives and the broader community. These stories will serve to inspire and motivate others while fostering a culture of philanthropy and support for the Y's mission. 5. Understand Approved Applications: In tandem with Y Staff, understand the financial assistance applications approved to be able to report on the impact of the program to others. Provide regular updates to the Branch Board of how much assistance has been provided year-to-date. Through these efforts, the Financial Assistance Committee plays a crucial role in advancing the YMCA's mission of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. By promoting financial literacy, expanding access to resources, fostering inclusivity, and sharing impactful stories, the committee contributes to the financial development and overall well-being of individuals and families within our community.
To enhance the financial wellness of our community and facilitate access to all those in need.
